employee6187 05-23-09 Decibel System
Employee 6187 at the worthington st library plays what everyone would want to hear in a club, but wouldn't want to hear anymore. like, i don't know, andy williams, or mitch miller. closest thrift store on the walk to the venue scores the set list. also features first known recording of an attacker attempting a brute-force dictionary attack on a club full of clubgoers.
wonderful audio commentary by famed internet poster Anon of Anon.

[a knock sounded on the fourth wall and he rose to face it.]
it was the reader, whom, as an ideal manifestation of a class of phenomenon (including both human and other apprehension), demanded that the method of determining the content(s) of a piece of text should be as close to identical as possible to the physical practice of inscribing the words in turn as a method of initial perception of the concept. see, you just read that whole thing, nice one. the purpose of language, notionally, is the autography of thought via language upon the perception. written language was conceived in the interest of getting that done at some point, but somewhere around windows 3.1 that shit went south for a minute [hard]. the distracting square form of the modal dialog box casts exactly a cubical shadow in the continuing perception of the user, in his linear and right-angled world of language. the operation of the machinery necessary to digitize the linearization of the lingual form of a rather constant shotgun blast of experience to the face is frankly way too much for most current internet users, and, the reader believed, probably should be enforced with packs of feral remotely controlled vultures. the task of manifesting language in text is currently more complicated than farting, which poses serious problems to anyone not canny enough to avoid being convinced of the surface reality of the form of language presented in the daily text of every day experience. for example: spell checking. formatting. proper avoidance of insulting the reader. attributing misspellings to cats. these are all tasks that must be mastered before even a thought can arise, yet none would be sensibly thought of as necessary to thought.

independance day
the film "independance day" is at once both a subtle jab at the audience and pompous declaration of conquest of the contemporary american mindspace by organizations who style themselves as existing in the public eye as the Other. it exists as a sort of print-out, the manifestation of the business practice of owning a perception in the sense of intellectual property (the phrase being the definition of a method of negatively monetizing creativity*) as well as in the sense of a completley fabricated reality on offer instead of more traditional (useful) products such as hammers or playstations. the credo of disaster capitalism is played out as naturally a drama between an unknowable and complete force, and the everyman assisted handily by the mechanisms of violent physical domination by those to whom the state grants such a right - airplanes and computers figuring prominently. in fact it's for such an event that the machine was built.
the alien other is complete, global, and devoid of the will to communicate. it excercises utter technological domination* over the globe in a series of fantastic scenes examining in detail the logical extension of military power - beams of light with utter destructive force. the portrayal of these weapons on a screen by the producers is the weapon itself, symbolizing the effect the moving images have upon the retina & the mind -- utter control of attention, of self, of moment. the massive space ships are in fact the air within the theater itself, the space between persons reduced to less than zero by utter domination of sound, of vision, of empathy by a mechanized and utterly effective Other. what other kind of experience can be meaningfully had in a darkened room full of explosion? few easily.
the sly nods to alien wierdos is of course the producers inferring they are aware of their role as warriors.
"you don't think they actually spend $30K on a hammer, do you?" no, of course not, of course the money was secretly being spent on a necessary post-disaster asset, rather than being mis-spent on no tangible benefit to the populace.
the image of a caravan of winnebagos converging on bases in the desert mutes the fact that secret infowar research facilities are presented in this film as a well intentioned fore-thought rather than the embarrassed silence of the oppressor, and global informational control as necessary to defend against the imaginary phantoms of disasterism rather than an end to itself. luckily, that's okay because the strong bond of brotherhood portrayed in resistance to external domination by the Other is helpful instruction on how to desire battlefield victories.
the humanity being exterminated in this film is the ultimate symbol, as it's the symbol of the humanity of the viewer being decimated both by this film, and the tide of violent paeans to mechanized destruction gracing the silver screen. it is the symbol for the result of itself. this is a strange loop.
very effective use of rotating surveillance display as manifestation of the physical response to the news of utter violence
* copyright has little utility to the creative action
* aside from the need to use cnn's satellites as a wristwatch.

the fake writer eases into a folding chair and begins tapping after pulling up his left sock. the lines outside were growing longer as he wondered how much time he had left. in the long hallway of his dusty recollection, imaginary conversations arose regarding the amount of understanding required to process a shouting mob (of anyone) as any sort of encouragement, how certain handlers of any pop phenomenon would toil and craft a stately frame for the perception of appeal. understanding may have been the best word he knew for the phenomenon but it was quickly chosen and didn't suit the views of any number, real or not, of imaginary perceivers.
[not you, of course, i'd not suggest it.]
a robotic walking antique cellular telephone repeats the same dull passage for any vagrant lost enough to end up in the museum of anti-technology: "the mechanism of manual speech has altered little in time, post clay's unfortunate demise to more combustible papyrus. unlike tracing moist clay, the keyboard mechanism promotes a very useful mindset for mill-workers and field-hands by serializing language in the form of a mindless repetitive task as easily supervised as the result. strict interpretation of High Code glyphs results in a more perfect implementation of the Code" which sort of trails off in the low frequencies seven words in from the middle and echoes down the concrete tunnel, being loud enough to make the three hour walk less uneventful. the imaginary author rolls two die six and successfully detects the hidden trap door leading to the first save point.
[please take a moment to determine your position within this text here.]
the museums display consisted of the physical remnants of the previous era's corporate structure validating itself in print, poster, billboard, and thought-virus alike, detailing the only known rebuttal to the end of the universe presented in architectural form, wired for sound-tubes and lit from every angle with a space hobbit's finest lasercandles. (the term for the device was known nebula-wide as the fittest hit to stoke any imaginary textualizer's bongo gourd). Mostly inert, the displays sprang to full spectacular effect sequentially as a stray dog loped orthogonally after a rat more tangible than any of the toxic displays. even the dog knew better than to hunt here, as the displays from the 2070s had subsonic partials at the exact resonant frequency of his tail, which led to fun but mostly a vicious pursuit. the era's head zippers launched massive enthusiastic battles on the minor planets to celebrate their achievement of such a heady end and managed an utter defeat of the abandoned machinery nearby. (the last recorded mention of anyone questioning the utility of the Code was after such a battle on Mu-Mu [make up your own spacedate])
a knock sounded on the fourth wall and he rose to face it.
he panicked, fearing the buildup of useless threads could result in no coherent theme that he'd planned from the start, save for the tacky (and not to mention purely theorized) narrator. the door, ahead of him, towered monolithically over his lenten twain, leading only to a perfectly spherical room.
he was headed two-ard room O.
the message that had arrived that morning outlined in 23 brief pages the breadth and severity of posting guidelines he'd failed to negotiate before launching the effort controlled from the sphere's control rails. none of the authors or programs the missives hied from could help but picture the tubular chrome positioners as massive implements of their doom, presumably, but of course the sort of better sense official letter writers steep in prevented any such glimmer of reality from surfacing on the hyperpaper. that his timing was good was only part of the problem, it was instead an issue of his shabby molecular manifestation at guild functions. sometimes admirals just don't understand.

if you tuned in to this past weeks anti-music workshop, you fucking win. it was more than any reasonable person should expect to hear in their life, and as such was cataloged and deleted upon completion.

The Stafford Arts Collective presents:
A terror-tour to not be missed - Our tour guides lead you through the smoky blinding mayhem of our haunted house to see the dark "subconscious of a small town." Angry janitors, bloody bathrooms, war veterans take the tour hostage at gunpoint, firing off rounds into the ceiling, a giant scud bust through the wall, they demand identification from unsuspecting visitors - someone in the tour (maybe you) gets taken hostage - Don't miss it if you want to experience this world in another dimension.
This video is a behind-the-scenes before the haunted house was finished - as the final walls, tricks, and scares are still being added - and the Stafford Arts Collective is in full bloom, working in the last days to produce the last haunting experience...of your life.

- steve has released tracks on mirex, sonic terror, and hugely fashionable wrong music. he combines a deep and meaningful mastery of music composition & classical techniques with the most blistering breakcore ever heard outside of the ritalin factory. well famous in the pacific rim as an orlando bloom impersonator.
John 'Mr. Proxxxy' achieves dense syncopated poly-rhythmic mental drum levitation improvising in real time on archaic tracker technology in hexadecimal, while at the same time running our nations financial computers into the ground with raw C code. Often accused of inciting several st patricks day riots during his 2005 live set on the anti-music workshop, the man with the golden .plan mixes oldskook UK rave stabs with newskool US face stabs.
screamerclauz.com
draconian films
Fresh off the set of his newly wrapped edgy horror masterpiece 'Reality Bleed Through', Screamerclauz comes full frontal gabber murder attack, fusing the unreality of violence and the contextless dystopia of everyday life in a live speedcore set that still gives me nightmares. Jimmy has released on Strike Records, toured from LA to NYC, and his tracks are spun worldwide, despite having some of the most offensive cover art possible. Screamerclauz is currently banned by the german postal service as Disgusting and Unredeemable Content (Geszschiteisbadtohearinzeng)

DJ Motherfucking Baldy - Repping CT hardcore since day one, Baldy has returned from a mindbending cultural tour of the western united states and parts of connecticut to impress upon your feeble human minds the necessary message of the Kick Drum. Let our masterful inveterate mixtape specialist tranmigrate your mental functions into concrete for a rare set from the #1 Hardcore DJ in New England.

Astral Wolfer manufactured for me one of the finest analog synths i've ever seen at his day job as technician for noise professor jessica rylan, in between side stints as laptop battle champion and chiptune producer. Known to improvise live sets on a gameboy when not recording prolific live acid sets, this gentleman will set you straight on life with nothing more than a few thousand watts of bass.
also i guess some asshole 'dj meatsock' will be spinning as well.

jungle files for fl 7 users
hectic-export.mp3
zipped loop, fl 7
grep-fu.net/hectic-export.zip is a fl studio 7 file containing willfully uncleared samples taken from hyper on experience, SNAP - the power, kaptain nemo, and photek's 'ni ten ichi ryu'
the two sliced HOE breaks (hoe1 & hoe2a) - mixer channel 4 - are eq'd and compressed
the first unsliced HOE break - mixer chan 2 - would have been a slicer channel if i had intended to keep it.
the bassline does need improving, and some slides or something. mixer channel 6 is filtered heavily and compressed.
the photek sample that opens the track out is on mixer channel 11 with an automated notch filter heavily compressed.
'it's getting kinda hectic' - mixer channel 7 - also has an automated notch filter with hpf @ 70hz
most of the automation is in 31, 32, 42, 43

stunt rock interview
http://grep-fu.net/amw/stunt-rock-1-17-08-raw.mp3
I had a nice conversation with william 'stunt rock' flegal this evening, and we discussed betamax videotape recorders, marsha brady's boobs, and how addict records is run by a secret cabal of breakcore elders. For the die-hard fans, alcoholism, loneliness, impressing girls with breakcore, and why the rave scene is terrible also are featured.
And yes, at 30:17, that is the sound of my zipper unzipping.

doormouse interview
http://grep-fu.net/amw/doormouse-1-13-08-edit.mp3
i just recorded an hour long telephone interview with dan 'doormouse' martin which lays waste to all negativity internet users might postulate regarding his labels' fine output.
he spilled the beans on the crazy history of MEAT and tells all regarding whether or not a reunion is possible, talks about PIMP QUEETOE's questionable origins and his/her new album, and handily explains why the internet is STILL COOL, drinking is LAME, and bosnian breakcore DJs just DON'T GET IT.

MC Snacky Winebox presents:
http://grep-fu.net/galaxian/BBQ-rap-2.mp3
featuring djs snakefeather, cold rigourous, and snacky of the WHUS shadow elite 2k7.
http://grep-fu.net/grime/grimesit1.mp3
featuring snacky, this grime file supercedes the previous version at the same url.
http://grep-fu.net/grime/thunkgas.mp3
this is more half-ish time stuff.
http://grep-fu.net/acid/clearbeat.mp3
it wouldn't be hard at all to call these breaks. features some cool vocal samples taken from the internet archive.
http://grep-fu.net/jungle/ploakd.mp3
oh, well, it's in the jungle directory, so it must be ... a whole lot of breaks and some saws.
if you read this blog and use FL Studio, good for you. I've posted a couple of .zip files which you can open in FL 7, plus or minus some vsts.
http://grep-fu.net/jungle/wallycore.zip
well this one features penisology samples, and some more help from WHUS's recording facility. the bassline needs a lot of work here. oh the toad and peach plugins are great little gameboy sounding dudes from tweakbench.com. pick em up too.
http://grep-fu.net/grime/grimesit1.zip
well, is that grime?
this blog contains links to periodic recordings of the anti-music workshop radio show on 91.7 FM WHUS.ORG (friday evening 0000-0200 EST), and the occasional link to make-work tracks of various quality and completeness composed by meatsock with help from many other sources.
you can use these recordings for anything useful. if you'd like to add any of these tracks to a compilation or collaborate on whatever, email meatsock at gmail dot com. thanks for listening.

some meatsock files of improving quality
http://grep-fu.net/jungle/celtichop.mp3
this features a squeaking chair someone kindly left in Studio C at WHUS, a fiddle sample stolen from WHUS, some really old feedback from my ER-1. the grunt/what? in this track is snacky of snackyonline.net oh, and i guess some samples of drummers! it has some really twisty high-frequency stuff which i used to find only in screetching filters. wierd how chosing samples with interesting characteristics is way more relevant than polishing their tone.
i never did take that cowbell solo out.
http://grep-fu.net/jungle/gunfightamen.mp3
here's a re-use of the amen sample with a totally improbable bassline. if there is a player out there who can play these slides, get in touch. the vocals on this were provided by helena, and can be heard in http://grep-fu.net/whus/snacky2.mp3 as the chorus.
http://grep-fu.net/jungle/wallycore.mp3
horribly named, featuring both penisology and snacky samples, as well as the re-emergence of my over-reliance on tweakbench.com's toad plugin.
http://grep-fu.net/jungle/homemovies-draft.mp3
http://grep-fu.net/gabber/walterperry-acid.mp3
http://grep-fu.net/gabber/walterperry.mp3
here's two files made with a lot of samples ripped off home movies DVDs and bonus discs. i even sent these actual files to brenden small's actual myspace account, with a specific request for a cease and desist letter. results pending. one is gabber and one is jungle, but you'll have to guess which is which.
http://grep-fu.net/noise/somethingxclever.mp3
courtesy of gmail username callmebibble, this one is a bass heartbeat over unrequested frenetic pitch bends.
http://grep-fu.net/acid/gunbattle-2.mp3
http://grep-fu.net/acid/not-amen-05-04-07.mp3
http://grep-fu.net/acid/breaks-acid-130-05-18-07.mp3
http://grep-fu.net/acid/jumpyacid.mp3
these are all breaks or 4/4 and are for the most part rather stripped down basic 909 sounds with a monosynth or two. meatsock heavy industries is now hiring for a song-renamer.

amw top classics for serious
http://grep-fu.net/amw/amw-4-28-07-mono.mp3
this is a good one, all the classics. hrvatski, doormouse, vsnares, jungle, orbital, etc. got the records together for some 'top 10 records' radio show on aspectradio, and of course couldn't restrain myself.

jungle tracks, 2005-2007
ok, the original jungle track here features some twin peaks bassline action, samples from the series of the same name.
http://grep-fu.net/anotherplace_dnb.mp3
soon after, i found out about mtldnb's jungle contest and composed this. someone said it sounded like squarepusher, but i disagree.
http://grep-fu.net/mtdnb.mp3
captain barkey - amount a grand vocal sample. sort of clumsy timing. cheese and peace girl.
http://www.grep-fu.net/lighta2.mp3
more recent material includes the following, a valiant effort to return to the stale old jungle cliches.
http://grep-fu.net/whus/hammersleeve-rrr.mp3
a wicked hyped up super rave beat with charming high-frequency quirks.
http://grep-fu.net/whus/DNB_3.mp3
and, here's a .ZIP archive of that track in FLStudio 7 format
http://grep-fu.net/whus/DNB_3.zip
luckily, sometimes i dont randomly name files
http://grep-fu.net/whus/meatsock-inthejungle.mp3
pretty sparse, just a drumtrack.
here's one featuring samples from the first jazz album i ever heard, herbie mann's memphis underground. composed on illegal software, at the time. not much of a soundstage on this one either, just a bunch of chrome.
http://grep-fu.net/apacheorleans-prelim.mp3
the 9 minute ripped-off fugue re-edit. longest sequence i ever composed back then, just because the source material was so plentiful.
http://grep-fu.net/fuguefordrums.mp3
it's getting kinda hectic remix. inspired by HOE etc.
http://grep-fu.net/rcf/hectic.mp3
in conclusion, here's a http://grep-fu.net/sandwich.mp3 - the staple food of electronic music, long digressive random patterns.

amw for feb 17 2007
http://grep-fu.net/amw/amw-02-17-07-bibble.mp3

featuring bibble on dual kaosspad action, with seratto scratch and fresh dub plates. some nice glossolalia, and lots of delay. one of the unremarked benefits of seratto is there's a perfectly boring scratch tone right there, whenever you care to over-use it. also, i think the instant messenger may have accidentally had it's audio output on but it's hard to tell during the amw.
keep lookin out for new releases.

dec 15 2006 interview will k wilkins
http://grep-fu.net/amw/amw-dec-16-2006-will-k-willkins.mp3
i had a chance to speak to will k. wilkins, of real art ways, 56 arbor st, hartford, a local art gallery and movie theater. the goal was to generate some information useful to my friends at the stafford arts collective. the SAC is the group responsible for the flyer of this blog's last post, a group of stafford kids trying to organize around being creative. this last sunday's event shows great favor for the future. hopefully there will be pictures to follow, maybe even a movie!
oh, and as to the playlist,
eno / fripp
aaron spectre - amen punk
eno / fripp
vex'd
ketacore 01
origin unknown - truly one
steve reich desert session
interview (with some tracks under it)
some meatsock tracks
LFO
more vex'd
hrvatski
publishingnoticepress.com tracks
and some other goodies. oh yeah, this show sees the introduction of a kaoss pad into my process of mixing -- loads of effects, crappy ad-hoc editing, cheesey cliche attention grabbing flams and whistles, and pounds and pounds of static-laden lard go into each episode of the amw as due course, of course.
now, if you're reading this, drop me a line at meatsock at gmail dot com in regards to this week's special offer

dj meatsock - the anti-music workshop for 07 october 2006
http://grep-fu.net/amw/amw-10-07-06.mp3
so i guess i've been getting away from the super harsh super aggressive stuff lately. one reason might be the previous show's interview with thomas dolby getting me thinking more about pop music and music the average dude can comprehend, or maybe i'm just getting old. anyway, here's a mix i really like focusing on a bunch of new vinyl i just picked up off the internet. a lot of classic, or at least 'old' stuff, and less attempts at mixing.
song - artist - release
----
hot mix 3 - the bootleggers
world turns faster - rocket boy
dodecahedron - aphex twin
the helicopter tune (rennie pilgrem tribal remix) - deep blue
pump up the volume - m/a/r/r/s
girl with the sun in her head (live) - orbital
code red - 2 croozin
#1 in heaven - sparks
blue monday - new order
you have to understand - LFO
spacelab - kraftwerk
?? acid
cb/dc - funkstorung
set yourself free - planet soul
jungle bass from the planet detroit - maggotron
dirty fucker - luke vibert
the box - orbital

the anti-music worksho for sep 23 2006 - thomas dolby interview
http://grep-fu.net/amw/amw-9-23-06-thomas-dolby.mp3
a nice interview with Thomas Dolby, musician and inventor extrordinare. We talk about music, technology, DRM, and his early days as a musician. He'll be going on a fall 2006 tour to warm up for some new releases. In addition, there's a nice dj mix at the end, to boot.

this is an excellent mix! it starts off with a bunch of CLASH records 7"s, then goes into some jason forrest and excellent broklyn beats releases. also featured are noise creator, knifehandchop on irritant, then some nice girl breaks, and some breaks and acid sounds from knight grooves. it's good.
edit 08 may 2006 -- oops! wrong URI fixed.

here's a nice 107mb 160k recording of an innovative look at the history of pop culture and a few boob jokes curated by john davison, on loan from brooklyn. never before has an edition of the antimusic workshop been presenting in such even levels. this may be of note to those interested in mastering advice.
if you want a playlist use the email address above, because contacting me will have no effect on the tracklist. theres a lot of music.
